Previously on Desperate Housewives Season 7 Episode 17 Everything's Different, Nothing's Changed, Beth was rejected by Paul and abandoned by Felicia. She made the ultimate sacrifice for Susan.
Beth's suicide had a ripple effect beyond what we could have predicted. Paul went from a "Is she dead?" predictable attitude to crying like a baby at the end of the episode. But the most unpredictable reaction was that of Felicia who seemed extremely affected by her daughter's passing. Then again, the episode ended the way we thought Felicia would react: Not truly caring and finding a way to use this twist to her advantage!
If Paul's change of heart at the end of the episode was a taste of what's to come, maybe he'll turn a new leaf and do good for once! Learning that Beth truly loved him was surely the breaking point for Paul, who hasn't been loved by anyone since Mary Alice's suicide in the pilot episode. Agreeing to let Susan get one of Beth's kidneys could be his first step towards goodness. But, then again, do we want Paul to be 100 percent good? You must admit that having Evil Paul live on the Lane is entertaining!
One storyline that was unexpected, was that of Andrew. Since Shawn Pyfrom announced last year that he sort of wanted out of 'Desperate Housewives' in order to focus on other projects, I never expected him to be front and center for a storyline this season.
Bree, learning from Beth's suicide, decided to help her son no matter what. It's great that she was able to find a way to lower Andrew's barriers so that he would admit he is now an alcoholic and get help. It might be best if Andrew were to move in with Bree for a while as, being alone in his house might make the recovery a tad more difficult.
